Art Bead Scene's Muffin Tin Challenge

I had a lot of fun working filling up my muffin tin with projects and being able to just grab one to work on. The ten cups I finished turned into eleven necklaces. My favorites ended up being the two necklaces with different shaped Amazonite and fossil coin beads. While looking for a closure, I found a necklace of metal connectors that looked just like waves and had to use them with the sea foam blues of the Amazonite.

Taking pictures is so hard without sunlight. Better pictures and all eleven necklaces tomorrow.

Finally Friday

I've had a busy week with three tests and a paper due for my classes. This caused a lack of the daily posting that I had hoped for when I started.

After my last class today, I took some pictures of what I've been making in my free time this week. My camera's batteries ran out while I was trying to photograph more necklaces and after a long week I decided new batteries can wait until tomorrow. Tonight I'm going to catch up on some TV shows and relax.

Here are three of the necklaces I've added to my craft fair inventory. I especially like the different textures in the one on the right and the way the light looks in the beads of the center necklace.

Weekend Work and Music Monday

I was studying for tests I'll have this week so I didn't get much free time. I did take a few breaks to make some earrings for the craft fair but didn't have time to photography them until today. However, it was really dark when we got done with Valentine dinner and movie stuff. I made more than these three pairs but I gave up on trying to get good pictures without natural light.

This video is Ronald Jenkees playing a song called Throwing Fire. It sounds even better if you watch him play while you listen.

Valentines

Daily Creations:

The valentines for the swap Nerdy Valentines were due today. I thought I would share them here. I'm posting a link so there are no spoilers for Dragonjoust, haveyoumetlisa, and xSugar. If you're one of these three swappers, don't view link. Feel free to use the valentines but please don't take credit. I worked hard on them.

I'll be working on making jewelry for the craft fair this weekend and will post some pictures of what I create. I hope your weekends are starting off great.

Edit: Is it ok to share things from a swap with others? I've never had this issue before and I don't want to be rude to my partners. I also wanted to add links to the fonts I used on the valentines. If anyone wants to download them, they are here and here.

Why I'm Always Covered In Hair

Daily Creations:

Today I made 3 ATCs for the Reuse/Recycle/Repurpose Swap. Once my partners have received their cards, I'll post pictures. Other than the 3 ATCs, I've been working on class work and haven't made any jewelry for the craft fair.

Why I'm Always Covered In Hair

Alex and I have two Great Pyrenees. If you don't know what this breed looks like, they are really big, white and fluffy. Both of them love the snow. They wrestle in it, run around with their mouths open like shovels to eat the snow, and play until they have to plop down.

Our older dog, Dante, is sweet, loyal and a big (135 pounds big) cuddler. He loves to bark and guard his yard from evil squirrels. When he's not outside, his favorite place to be is the bathroom. Now he blocks the door but he used to be small enough to crawl behind the toilet.

Silas is a year younger than Dante. He loves cutting Dante off from getting attention. He’s very obedient and listens to us right away. I've taught him how to sit, shake, and lay down; Dante is too stubborn to learn tricks. Of the two, Silas keeps himself better groomed and loves to clean Dante’s ears for him.

(This is an older picture of Silas. He is bigger now.)

Hello

I'm finally starting a blog of my own after reading others' blogs for years. The main reason behind starting is I've decided my word of the year for 2011 will be Create. The plan is to make something everyday. It will be mostly crafting and jewelry making but some times cooking or decorating. I've been using a journal to keep track of what I make but thought a blog would be more fun.

I bought a booth at a local craft fair which will take place on March 5. My creating for February has been dedicated to getting enough inventory ready. I plan to sell necklaces, bracelets, and earrings as well as watercolor paintings, notecard sets, and some of my other favorite crafts.

A little about me...

I'm a 22 year old college student studying History/Art History. I would like to teach one or the other. I live with my fiance, our two Great Pyrenees, and one kitten in our first house. We are in love with making it our own cozy corner of the world.

Some of my hobbies are jewelry making, watercolor painting, photography, collaging, and making ATCs. I've been making jewelry since high school. I'm not an expert and, as a college student, I can't buy precious stones. I mostly use glass beads. I've always loved the look of watercolors. I took a class two years ago and recently started painting again. Collaging and making ATCs is also something I enjoy a lot. I like the challenge of the small canvas. As part of my year of daily creating, I'd like to improve my photography skills. Forgive me if my photos start out poorly.

I love watching my favorite TV shows. Supernatural and Doctor Who are tied for first. Others I like are The Big Bang Theory, Being Human, Firefly, Fringe, Pushing Daisies, How I Met Your Mother, The IT Crowd, Stargate SG-1, and Avatar: the Last Airbender.

I love reading. When I'm not reading textbooks, I like novels by Neil Gaiman, the Harry Potter series, the Lord of the Rings. I'll read pretty much anything interesting though...be it fantasy, biography, historical, etc.

I've recently joined Swap-Bot (username maybejustperhaps) and really enjoy getting things in the mail besides bills.

I'm working on a Geography class semester project and am collecting currency from as many different countries as possible. If you'd like to trade, send me an email or PM on Swap-Bot.

Besides posting about my daily creations, I'm still coming up with ideas for blog posts. I'd love to join some link parties or day of the week posts...things like Music Monday or Bead Table Tuesday. What kinds of posts are your favorites for blogging community building?
